Is it possible for people who are good with computers to tap into your email account?

How do strange people get my email address. Can they tap into my email account and read my emails?

Someone who's good enough with a computer can tap into anything...especially something as relatively low-security as a standard email account. Just don't send anything sensitive, like a credit card number or your social security number, via email.

Someone having your email address doesn't necessarily mean they can get into your account, though. If you've ever signed up for an e-newsletter or anything else over the internet and had to give your email address to do it, chances are your email address got put on a list that solicitors have access to. Chances are just as good that your account is still safe; after all, if someone could hack into your email account, they probably wouldn't bother to just send you useless emails. I just delete them.
Reply:If someone has access to your computer, they can load what is called a 'key log' onto your PC which tracks all of your keystrokes so they can get your user name and password. There are a ton of free key loggers out there. The bad thing is that they are usually named something that blends into your normal system programs so its hard to detect if one of these programs is loaded to your PC if you do not know what you are looking for.
Reply:Yes, they are called hackers. They get information from you, and some people have their own hacking system which allows them to get passwords.
Reply:yes they can and it is very easy to do so...very easy....(guy problems..been there)
Reply:Yes they are called hackers . . .
