Is it illegal to create an email account under a false name?

Let's say someone creates an account with information that isn't their own but also not anyone elses information. It's fictional like a made up character. Would it still be illegal?

Is it illegal to create an email account under a false name?
The answer is a definite yes. People who create a Y! account with a false name will be in violation of the Terms of Service and will run the risk of having their accounts terminated under these very rules.

Read Part 6, Subsection c found under the heading "Member Conduct:"

6. MEMBER CONDUCT

You agree not to use the Service to:

c. impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, a Yahoo! official, forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.

I hope this should answer your question.
Reply:I'm pretty sure it's not illegal to do so. One example: My brother still inputs his name as "Jesus Christ" on e-mail accounts, web site accounts and even has mail order CDs/DVDs sent to him under that name.

It's a silly thing he insists on doing and it's been going on for almost 12 years. Don't ask - I don't know. But! So far so good for him!
