How can I tell if someone has been trying to access my email account ?

I tried to access my email and it asked me 5 times to re-verify my password and kept routing me to my account screen. I am wondering if someone was trying to hack into my email.

Have you ever given you information to anyone? Perhaps you were logging on from a different computer than you normally use and the system was just trying to identify you.
